Returning auto modeler needs help.
Posted by BraniffBuff on Saturday, July 6, 2013 1:35 PM

Having never tackled a model car since the the AMT customizing kits of the 1960s and not being very mechanically inclined when it comes to automotive systems, I'm more than a little bit out of my comfort element when it comes to detailing model automobiles. Can someone suggest a source of info on wiring model car engines and plumbing automotive heating/cooling systems and brakes in 1/25 scale, as well as a source of aftermarket detailing parts for same?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Double B try modelcargarge.com and scale equipment ltd. (Seltd.net) for starters on detail items.  There are many more.  If your not sure where something goes, google or bing the engine or car you are working on.  you will find 1000's of useful pics.  If all else fails, just ask one of us gear-heads.  I dont hesitate to ask one of the aircraft guys a question when I'm klutzing through an aircraft build!

Nothing ever fits……..and when it does, its the wrong scale.

To make mistakes is human.  To blame it on someone else shows management potential.

Thanks for those website references. For the record, I'm planning a model of the Ford Thunderbird Italien concept car.

Here's a good series of detail photos taken during a rebuild of this car.

move forward and back from the link for many engine, interior and exterior shots

Good luck with your project. Looks to be an interesting one.
