Thank you so much for the help. I went to their website and looked around just a little bit. I was amazed at the older model truck cabs and stuff that they have. I grew up in the 50's and 60's and I remember many of these fine old classic trucks. They bring back some very good memories from a time when a dollar was worth a dollar.

Thanks pal,

Greg

Slang, you might find the cab and parts you need at Sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com.  They had some of the early 60's Chevy cabs last time I looked around.  You can use the chassis from the AMT LN8000 or C800 kits that are available now for conversion use.

Nothing ever fits……..and when it does, its the wrong scale.

To make mistakes is human.  To blame it on someone else shows management potential.

Need Advice For A 1:25 Scale Truck Kit
Posted by Slang on Thursday, January 9, 2014 3:35 PM

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find a 2 ton truck kit in either 1:24 or 1:25 scale, please let me explain what I want to do. I would like to build either a Chevy, Dodge, or Ford truck from the 1950's thru the 1970's as a weathered, and worn, pulpwood truck with a scratch built boom assembly. Something like the Chevy "Viking" series, C-60, or one of the other U.S. mfg. trucks based on a 2 ton truck model is what I need. Either with 1 tandem axle or 2 tandems that mount to the rear chassis would work perfectly for this project.

If any of you fine folks could lead me in the right direction to find a basic truck kit that I could adapt for this project it would really help me tremendously. If I could find a delivery truck, or a farm truck in this 2 ton series and particular scale, I could simply do away with the reefer van or the flat bed and side racks, and just scratch build the upper assembly like I want it to look. I saw a 1:25 scale Ford "Flat Nosed" Pepsi delivery truck on Ebay, and it will work if I can't find a Chevy C-60, the C-60 is what I really would rather build the project on. But......If it doesn't exist in this scale, then I'll have to go with the Ford Flat Nose.

As a matter of fact, if I could just find the Chevy C-60 cab, interior, and chassis, I think that I might could find the wheels, axles, engine, and tranny from outside suppliers. And if I can't find something aready boxed, if anyone might have some suggestions that would help me to bash a standard kit to make it work as a 2 ton truck please let me know. I am open to all suggestions, and all help, and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much,

Slang
