Thanks guys for the reply. I found that the 91% Isopropal and 10 PSI did the trick. Many years ago I had tried the Isopropal as a thinner, and I don't remember what the pressure was, but it came out all pebbly/orange peel looking. But this has gone on really nice, smooth and clear.

you can also use 91% isopropyl alcohol that you can get at your local Pharmacy.

I've had success airbrushing Tamiya clears using lower pressure like 10 psi and thinned with Tamiya's own thinner.  I don't remember how much I thinned them but I think it was close to 50/50.  The trick is to apply it in thin layers and gradually build up the color.

I'd just order some Tamyia thinner online.  You'll have it in a few days.

Hi All, I'm usually over in aircraft, however, my question is when airbrushing Tamiya clear colors what is the recommended air pressure ans what can a person use as a thinner? Tamiya recommends using one of their thinners, however I'm 120 miles from the closest hobby shop and I'm not sure they even have any thinners. is there a substitute? Magoo
