Great weathering JTRACING!

I really like the different colored trunk. The black maybe a bit bold to highlight the panels and doors on a yellow base color.

thanks,

panel lines are personal taste i guess lol, on old cars with not perfect fitting parts i like them to stand out.

Proof is in the picture! I did not realize they would look that bold on a 1/1 scale Bug, that being said yours looks great.

James, this really is a super project/idea and executed to the tee! Who doesn't have a soft spot for a Beetle?!

If I am not mistaken on my 72 super beetle I owned when I was kid, There was black rubber bead thing between the fenders and body.

James T!  What a great kit and awesome work!  Love the weathering.  You got the weathering down!  Brings back memories!  I had a '74 Beetle.  Loved that little car!  Thanks for posting the pics of a great build!

A friend of mine had a 66 VW Beetle and one night we went under a via-duct after a rain storm and the water was deeper than we expected. The VW floated. We bobbed around for about 10 minutes until the water drained to where we could get traction. The inside remained completely dry. The top speed was 64 MPH with a tailwind and going down hill, MAYBE. The heat exchangers would rot out (rust in the rustbelt) and the carbon monoxide would get into the cabin. Other than that they were good cars. The odd sounding idle was due to the front right cylinder getting less cooling air so the manufacturer retarded the cylinder timing to 89 degrees, and the opposite (caddy corner) cylinder was set at 91 degrees.  They had a 4 cylinder air cooled engine. A couple of guys could pull the engine without a hoist. Neat model of this poor mans Porche (pronounced por-sha so they say).

Heh, my mom had a VW Beetle in Wyoming in the '70's - one winter we took my Dad's Jeep Cherokee Chief to pick the Bug up from a mechanic, in a raging Wyoming blizzard.  My mom and I took the Bug while my dad took my sisters in the Jeep.  My mom and I made it home before the Jeep did - that car could go just about anywhere and was so light it didn't sink into the snow.
