Could use some expertise in stripping the chrome parts. I've used Simple Green, bleach and now brake fluid. Nothing is working, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

I use Windex. I soak the part for a few hours, then scrub it with an old toothbrush, regularly dipping the brush in the Windex as I scrub. This gets most of it off. Then I repeat the process a second time and generally the parts are stripped clean.

If you want the parts to be chromed, here's a trick that works pretty well. You can paint the chrome part with Tamiya X19 "Smoke" translucent acrylic. It dulls the chrome up to a point that can look really good.

Oven cleaner or Castrol Super Clean (Purple Cleaner) works best.  I use oven cleaner.  Just make sure not to breathe it in, it burns like hell if you get a whiff.  Also use gloves for both.  They're strong enough to burn the top layer off your skin in you get it on your hands and leave it.  I just have a glass jar full and use tweezers & gloves.

Put the parts in and they be de-chromed in 15-45 min.  Wash em off w/ soap & water and you are good to go painting!

If you want a kit part that is chrome to look more like cast aluminum, spray it with Testors Dullcoat.  It takes some of the shine off and makes it look like as-cast aluminum.

If you want a better chrome look, I prime the piece with a metal primer, then undercoat with black and then Alclad.

i bought some aircraft flexible plastic paint remover in spray cans for an airliner i am restoring. works great !  spray on, wait 5 minutes, wipe off.  then wash in water to neutralize the stripper. i got it at auto body toolmart... online.  as always, try a sample piece before the real piece

Regular old CLOROX Bleach will take it off. Just soak full strength, till it's gone. Use gloves!

I would also suggest neat bleach, however, the chrome on that particuler kit is renowned for being obstinate!
