I've used rattle can glosses, and I've been less than impressed. Go for the wax man.

Well, what I do (I get that effect alot) I very lightly wetsand with a high grit paper of abrasive clothe (depending on the severity) then I use Maquirs Deep Crystasl System. I use automotive paints. Put you may just be able to use the wax to gloss it up. When its done it looks like your reflection in still water. Also, my personal preferance, I don't use clear coats 9 outta 10. Hope this helps ya!

Gloss Coat woes

I have this fantastic two-tone paint job, candy purple and white. I've got great decals. The job took me forever. Now I apply my final wet layer of gloss and the damn thing comes up wavy. Not even orange peel but just a shallow wave that is visible when held against light. Is there an easier alternative to cutting this effect down with sand paper and reglossing? Is there a fine polishing paste that will cut just that final layer of gloss? Will heavy wax fix things? Help.
