aftermarket wheels...
Posted by Wingman_kz on Thursday, March 20, 2003 5:56 PM
i'm trying to find a set of aluminum aftermarket wheels for a '66 Mustang that i'm building. what i'm looking for is a CenterLine type of wheel with a smooth center or with lightening holes and rivets. do you know what i mean? on pg. 29 of the current issue of Scale Auto Mag there is a '32 Ford Speedwagon built by Steve Blackman that has the exact type i am looking for. i don't know if he made the wheels or not.

all i've been able to find so far are the classic Cragars or Keystones (molded) or aluminum rims with photo etched centers with current designs from 16" to 20". it's a 1/24 scale model and i need 15" wheels.

I know what you're talking about, but I have a feeling that you're gonna have to get those wheels from another kit. I don't know if there is a supplier that sells them on their own? If I were you, I'd go to HobbyHeaven and ask the guys there. They will know instantly what kits have those types of wheels.

If i remember right, Monagram packaged their 70 Chevelle 3 in 1 kits with the wheels you described. And this kit is still available, that is a for sure.

Hey, try JPSpro.com, it's the site for JPS racing products...they specialize in aluminum wheels for R/C cars and model cars. They're not to bad priced. You may also try Hobbylink Japan.... WWW.HJL.com they have a HUGE selection of wheels and the prices aren't to bad either.

Packhntr, you nailed it! JPS Pro has exactly what i'm looking for. and several more styles besides. not inexpensive but the price seems fair. now to find some nice rubber tires to fit them...thanks so much. they will look so good on my little Mustang.

and thanks to all of you...

one slight correction. those wheels are rather pricey. i misread the price for a set when it is for a pair. still, they do look very nice and i'm going to give them a try. i'll just have to wait another week or two...
