The first non stock chassis car is considerd to be the Holman Moody car in 66. This is probably when most of the aircraft type hoses and lines started to be used. When a scratch built tube chassis was built there were no factory style hoses and lines that fit. this requires custom items for each. As speeds increased the factory chassis did not hold up well and were not very safe at the large superspeedways. Maybe some other modelers are more knowledgable and can add some more insight for you. By 1973 I am sure these fittings and hoses were commonplace.
Recieved a gift of that 1:16 Charger kit yesterday. It has a lot of vinyl hose material for fuel, oil, etc. lines. Was wondering- when did NASCAR teams go to the Airequip type hoses?
