Hi all well here is tonights update, to all you Alclad 2 experts out there whats hapening here (it looks more like matt silver than chrome and it rubs off with your fingers) (the few small areas which do look like chrome are hard and dont seem to rub off) I used their black microfiller primer then their gloss black base coat then used the Chrome, do I need to give a second coat of the chrome or what?

I'm no expert but when I've used the shiny Alclad I always used it over Model Master acrylic gloss black. Not sure if it makes a difference here. Three or four light mist coats of the Alclad builds up a mirror like finish, you can see it go down with a chrome like shine, more coats build up the depth of the finish. I have heard too many coats will cause it to dull down to a more aluminum paint finish though. 

Not sure what happened to you here, just a few guesses:

Did you shake and mix the Alclad up well?

Did you spray it on really heavy?

Other than maybe being an old bottle going bad I'm not sure what might have happened here. I have no idea why it would come up from rubbing it, that sounds like an issue with the undercoat. I have heard their own gloss black base had issues so I've never used it.

Np, you could probably just spray another gloss black coat over what you have but if it's coming you're probably right about stripping it. A couple light mist coats should do the trick, just slowly build it up till it's solid and you don't see any black showing though and then stop so you don't over-do it. 

You might try using an old model or a plastic bottle to practice with, took me a few tries to get it right. 

HI all, ok so I sorted the chrome out but putting the candy colour over the top seems to have changed the chrome effect (I think in a quite pleasing way) I'm going to do a couple more coats of the cherry red candy then remove the masking then mask up the cherry red and do the chrome and then (cant decide on orange or emerald green candy on the top) personally I'm looking forward to see how it looks, I think It may be better than I visualized originally.

Lol, I've only used the Alclad on aircraft so you're entering uncharted waters as far as I'm concerned! Looks pretty cool though, looking forward to seeing how she turns out.

This particular kit is one I remember most fondly from being a young modeler.

I'm really happy Revell brought it back. I won't build one because i wouldn't know what to do with it, but it's pretty darn cool.

Wow, that paint came out pretty awesome! 

Btw: Staring at the front and I don't see the mistake, doesn't seem too noticable.
