The silver is looking good on the Miata, and no, they aren't a women's car, they prefer stupid cross-over things like RAV4.

oh, and at photobucket, when you click 'share' choose the fourth option and it will show a small picture here when you create a thread (or use reply, not 'quick reply')

Good point. As long as it remains fun! When it starts to become a chore, then I put it down for a spell. The Miata is looking good, DESooner

2015 Mazda Miata - Tamiya kit

Hi all.

Still a novice builder. This is my first auto build, not counting the joke car which is posted later on....the story on this is it's a going away / retirement memento for an active duty USAF guy retiring. This will be presented roast style, ala Don Rickles/Foster Brooks and I will explain that we didn't know what to get him because we don't know him very well and he's strange - all we've figured out about him in 3 years is he loves his car, a Mazda Miata, even though he professes to be a heterosexual guy...and despite the fact that we keep telling him that all Miata owners are 97% females...at that point, I will bring out display case #1 which contains the joke car, a 1982 Honda City car that I tried to model crappily, if that's a word...

1982 Honda

Then I will give him his real car, the Miata, which funny enough, came with a female figure that I could not resist including...I did include one shot of the interior. He had some custom made leather black seats made for his car in Oklahoma about a month ago - the custom seats have red stitching in the center, which I tried to replicate on the passenger seat.

These last shots are of the body paint job. I didn't want a super-glossy finish, so I chose to use Createx's Wicked Colors line of paint, and this was a Black Pearl. You probably can't notice from these photos, but the paint is a pearl, and I really like how it came out - under sunlight, you can see all the other colors in the paint. I applied 2 coats of Future, and may apply more later.

The paint on the crappy joke car is also from Createx's Wicked Colors line, and it was called something like Laguna Bay blue.

Thanks for looking. I don't really like making autos, or haven't tried to build any before, but I kind of like doing this one so far. I'm almost complete, should be finished in a couple of weeks. I made some mistakes, but I had fun, and I'm surprised it looks ok to this point.
