Need VW engine

Don, you don't mention scale.  Assuming 1/24, it looks like the Tamiya 1966 Beetle kit does.  Kit No. 24136.

I had a friend who fielded a VW-powered Midget in the late 70's.  They ran it on methanol.  The driver had a bad crash in it, where he ended up tearing his retina, which 'retired' him, so they sold the operation.

Virtually all oval track open wheel uses Methanol.  I had a 3/4 midget that ran on the stuff- same as model airplane fuel before the big spark ignition stuff came along a couple of decades ago.  Much less volatile than gasoline, and hence safer.  Higher octane, too, so folks ran high compression for more power.

Don, doing a lot of running around today but, when I get a chance, I'll check the stash. I know I have a couple of VW kits there. If they have engines, I'll let you know and if it's what you're looking for, it's yours.

I hope to pick up an AMT Meyers Manx tomorrow at the Twin Cities NNL.  Photos indicate that engine will work well, and someone is bringing one to sell in the flea market.

Sorry Don, no luck. A 1/24 IMC and a Pyro kit with no scale marked on it. No engine in either one. Must have kitbashed them years ago. Hope you find one.

Okay, guys, got my engine.  Picked it a Meyers Manx kit yesterday at the NNL, and that engine will work.  Need to scribe some cooling fins on the top of the cylinders, but that does not look to hard.   Thanks for all the help.
