What's the best scratch remover?
Posted by JMorgan on Saturday, July 16, 2016 2:01 PM

I am new to polishing cars before painting. I have tried Novus 2 (soon to be Novus 3) and find I still have scratches even after I have sanded with the finest (red) Testor's sandpaper thät I have. Is there a better polish and/or sandpaper out there?

It may depend on the paint used.  Lacquers polish much better than enamels.

What is the grit of that sandpaper?  Almost any sandpaper will require either a new finish coat or a clearcoat.

BTW, in a pinch toothpaste makes an okay polishing compound.

Hi ;

 I usually use  "Kit" headlight Polish . After ! all the steps with Novus and sanding ( Wet ) with 2000 grit. I then use the Novus finishing polish last . Has always worked for me .  T.B.
