That's very true LonCray, but it was a concept hot rod in it's day, it wasn't to be a daily driver.

Re-shaped side panels, with woodgrain decal and port-holes........

Also re-shaped coffin surfboard with woodgrain decal. All here will need a smidgen of paint to finish............

Today's work, I've kept the cross bars on the roof rack although they only there for the moulding process..................

I've put a couple of coats of gloss clear on the Tamiya Candy Apple Green....................

Although shaving a lot of both the hatch and the swivelling light pod, I have scratched/chipped the paint trying the fit them, so had to repaint both. I may just stick these two in place as they are still a very tight fit and may not work well................

And fitted the tail lights......................

Coming along nicely Pat. I use to really like those show cars but, as you said, most of them couldn't be driven on the road. The ones made by Barris were some of my favorites.

Today, the paint has dried, the hatch now works but the nose light doesn't, it just won't stay still!

And the steering works!

And the hatch closes!

And more tomorrow.

Today's progress, I glad about the colours as a surfer's vehicle should be bright and cheerfull...............

A few finishing touches and she's about done!

So she's already to show off!

Conclusion, I need to learn more about weathering, or is it just wet sand!

PatW;

    You know I used the car part for many other cool rods . Never liked the top shape . Now your's looks great . Must be the shades of green . Same as you find on money , right ? Great job .  T.B.

Hey ;

 Just when I was enjoying that clean build you had to go drive on the beach while the tide was coming in . Gee , go wash it ! Looks great again . Although I prefer it spotlessly clean .  T.B.

Great job Pat. Some of the pics look like a real buggy on the beach.

Thanks Jim, yes I had to find a couple of beaches to create some sort of surf theme.
