That's a project well done, I agree fully on the great father/son project, and a tip of the hat to Dad and a pat on the back and a hearty "Well-done" to the son.

Again, thanks for the compliments!  We've taken the project to a point that we are now calling it finished!  He is very happy with the finished project, I'm pleased with the results as well!

I've taken some photos of the completed model.  Three things going against me:  1.  I'm not a photographer by any means!!  2.  I only have my iPhone  3.  The model being mostly black.....matte black at that, makes it difficult for any detail pictures.  I feel the model presents much better to the eye than these attempted close up photos.

I hope you've enjoyed our build, though it was rather slow at times.  Thanks!

a little more progress has been made.  Interior door panels were painted.  Also if you look close you can see the gloss black stripe on the center of the hood.  This mimics the full scale car he wanted to duplicate (for the most part) in the first post of this thread.

We are out of clear glue for all the glass, so I'll have to pick some up before we can go too much further....the finish is near though!

We haven't disappeared!!  We've just been a bit sidetracked with the end of the schoolyear, summer baseball starting, etc.  In addition to that we had also been waiting on the replacement interior compartment piece to arrive (which it did!)

Today he airbrushed the body, hood, doors the flat black.  While that was drying we finished up what we could in regards to the interior (seats, dash and center console)  The door interior panels have to wait (waiting for the exterior flat black to dry)

Great work on the SLS AMG, been thinking about picking up this kit.

Thank You!  He is 11.  Admittedly, I am helping him and keeping a watchful eye as well as following up with touch ups and fine details.  Though, for example he did airbrush the Enzo totally by himself (base / clear) and I followed up with a slight sand and polish.

Our family business is auto collision repair, though we specialize in hot rods, customs and restorations.

Attaching the wheels and tires finished up everything we need to do on the chassis.  95% of everything on the top side of the chassis will be unseen once the body and interior are completed, so we didn't get too crazy with details.....instead we focused a bit more on the underside of it.  Sorry for the poor pics usually, I just have my phone to use only.

We also got started on painting some interior components.  My son painted the red, I followed back and outlined the black so he could come back and fill in the remainder of the black.  We stopped after the first seat as it was getting late and close to his bed time.

We painted the brakes and wheels this afternoon.  After the glue dries on the rim halves we can mount the tires and attach them all to the chassis (which is also finished now)

We can start a bit on the interior, but can't do too much without the new interior compartment piece yet.

Unfortunately we don't have any real "visual" progress to report as we haven't been able to get any free time to put towards this build for several days.

However, I can show one reason why we aren't in a huge rush on this project......while unboxing, we noticed the interior compartment had a flaw during the injection process.  We've contacted Revell support for this issue and will hopefully have a new interior compartment on its way to us (up to 6 weeks or so!!)

On the plus side, (as far as wating for the part) things will get even busier around here with baseball season / practice starting for my boys along with regular "summer" stuff.  So we'll just tinker on the rest of the project until we are at a total stand still waiting for the new part to arrive.

Did the detail painting on the underside of the chassis.  I should mention that it's all "fantasy" and not replicating a full scale, instead it is painted in a way that accents and details certain areas for visual appeal.

The engine is also about as detail painted as it'll get as well as most of it is hidden beneath the engine cover and air boxes.

Thank you!  I'm with you, I'm not really into modern supercars either, but it's fun to see which cars my son likes and the styles that he chooses to have them built.

I usually dont care for newer supercars but what you have so far is beautifull!
