In true polish, it is not the solvent that does the work, it is fine abrasive in an emulsion.  I just wipe it down, I find no need for water.

In the collision repair world, after buffing and polishing, we will wipe the cars down with a spray wax....

Mortal as I am,I know that I am born for a day.  But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the Earth...

After you polish a car, should you wash it instead of wiping since the polish is basically a solvent removing paint as you polish?
