This is my AMT '62 T-Bird Roadster painted with Testors White Lightning and a Model Master Insignia Red interior, lowered suspension, and a wired engine.

Very cool - nice work on the white finish which is not an easy thing to do, at least for me.

Cool subject!

Thanks,

John

Very nice results.  I like this body style.  I once had this kit but didn't build it for some reason.  Lowering it gives it a low and lean look.

Thanks guys!  I just wished I had a set of fender skirts for this car.  It would visually lower the car even more.

Thanks Nick!  I remember the '66 T-Bird having fender skirts.  I had one many years ago when I was a teenager!

The older "Bird's" are the best! And you have a pretty one for sure!

T-Birds' started getting "funky" (ugly and usless) about 1974 ish.

But, that's just my opinion........ you're mileage may vary......... warrenty void if tampered with.......for repair's contact your'e qualifyed service technition..........

 Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Hwat ?

 How could you do this ? One of My favorite models and someone's built it ? Hmm. It's gorgeous though . But !  Now driving that beast . It's like having an aircraft carrier deck out front that disappears from view . Love it ! T.B.

This T-Bird has gotten a lot of praise from several members of my model club, including the club president and he's an awesome builder!  I am tempted to scratch build a set of fender skirts myself instead of trying to modify an existing set from a new T-Bird.  But, for now, this T-Bird is done and I thank you all for the nice comments!

Hi;

 You know I always wondered why they called this car a roadster . Just it's size to me , keeps it out of the roadster class . I am of course a old Phart when this happens . I had an Austin - Healey 3000 and it was a roadster , like my wife's M.G. T.D. They were small .

Ford used the Roadster name very loosely on this model.  The cover over the rear seats kinda makes this a Roadster...kinda!

Absolutely!  This has to be one of the better looking T-Birds ever produced!

Ya Know ;

 I thought about what we said .This is a beautiful T-Bird . Now. If one was to shorten the back . Remove the rear seat length and then the rear overhang by half . Also narrow the car by a scale eighteen inchs or so . I do wonder what she'd look like then ?

 Of course if you did that , the door sill at the window would be the top of the chrome trim on the fender .You gotta admit those doors are thick !

Nah, just leave as it is!  Too much work to acheive so little.

Great job on the T-bird. It brings back pleasant memories. The steering wheel could be swung to the right and the seat swiveled to make getting in and out easier. It would be a shame to cover the wire wheels with skirts IMHO. You could order the car with real wire wheels or wire wheel hub caps. Mine was a beige metalic color with a matching leather interior. Great car and a great model.

Thank you rangerj!  I still wish my T-Bird had fender skirts (personal choice).  It would help visually lower the car.

Mr. Mike;

    Do you really want a set ? I think I may have some in my parts box . I'll check and get back to you .  T.B.

Tank - Builder, I appreciate the offer, but at this point, the T-Bird is done and sitting on the shelf as is.  I completed it for my Club Challenge for my Club's show last October.  The knock-offs on the wheels prevents any fender skirt from fitting properly.  Again, thanks for the offer!

Mr. Mike;

  Ah , you're welcome .The skirts are for a later model . I have both and checked them out . I checked them against my 62 and they are wrong in contour for it . Probably 66-67.

Very nice Job! WHere do you get your wired distributors>? The wire size in yours looks more authentic than the ones I use....

Thank You!

Thanks Rudy.  I was going to use a pre-wired distributor from Morgan Automotive Detail (MAD), but I choose wire the kit distributor since all the pre-wired distributors I had did not have red wires on them.  I drilled out the distributor and added 26 gauge wrapping wire from Radio Shack.  I believe you can still get wrapping wire from Radio Shack, but it would have to be ordered online since they closed most of their stores.
