I'm new here but have been "lurking" for quite some time and things seem pretty tame here. so thought I'd post a fun build I did not too long ago.
I've always wanted to do a build using mostly custom parts from the kit I'm building, so I decided to use the '50 Ford kit as they have some nice pieces.
I'm a bit of a putty thrower (I like to do molding with fillers of all types) so I glued on all the parts and did some filling to make the car look molded like back in the day.
The only parts not from the kit is a '59 Cadillac rear bumper/grill that I narrowed and molded the body to fit, and the skirts from the ol' parts box.
Also I made some interior decals that I felt kind of reflected that 50's "vibe". Anyway it's still in the process of assembly but I'm having fun with the ol' girl and thought I'd share it here.
Any type of comments are more than welcome .

On the bench - Hand made '50 Lincoln "Tail dragger" 1956 DeSoto 'vert., Resin '60 Chrysler 300 , Modelhaus resin '58 Pontiac hardtop kit.
Been a "Plastholic" all my life. Love this stuff.
Love those old customs! I remember them well from car shows in the 60's, even saw a few on the street.
I'm a lurker on the Scale Auto site and enjoy following your builds; it's good to see you here.
Hello!
I like the interior inserts a lot - those are the decals you mentioned, right?
Thanks for sharing and good luck with your build, have a nice day

Very nice work on the interior and exterior. Are you planning a special engine with all types of chrome and wiring?

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
Thanks for the nice welcome Mrmike.
Those 50's and 60's are the days I grew up in too in SoCal. Never better times.
mississippivolSweet build! What's the body color? I've seen very few cars in that color.
Earth colors were really popular in the 50's and 60's.
This is Testors Pure Gold in their One Coat Lacquer series. When you spray any of these colors make sure you continually shake the can as the color settles and separates quickly, and you get different shades of color if you don't.
All the best - Dave

Hello Dave,
Fancy meeting you here. I just joined here too. Wanted to see what all I could learn.
Another masterpiece sir. I really like the creativity with the Caddy backside. I dig the quad headlights too. Paintwork is ace as usual too. Really great stuff !!
Just keep picking away at it...
