Calling it done.  Few issues here and there as always.  Been a while since I did a car.  Kit had couple issues.  I'm very impressed with the automotive touchup paint - I will go that route again.  BTW if any one needs mini Ice Blue I have a LOT left over :)

Thanks,

John

Close to finishing this one.  Some minor details, decaling and cleanup

Thanks,

John

Some progress - equal amount of mistakes.  Just one of those nights where I created more work for myself...  body is test fit.  Roof black bled from the future clear coat.  Running boards are a terrible fit and need touchup.  Bahhhh.  I'll fix it :)

EDIT: I put the running boards/lower panels on backwards!  Pulled them off and reversed and the fit is a bit better...DOH!

Thanks,

John

Hey ! Is it true ? A Mini is smaller than my Kia SOUL 6 Speed ?

unlikely. the bmw mini is "mini" only in name. Those things are huge.

Tedious task of masking the windows complete.  Testing fitting, nothing glued yet.  I still need to paint the A pillars gloss black and polish the paint.

I got the touch-up paint yesterday.

I decided to shoot it over the acrylic and if I have to strip I have to strip.  So far it looks okay.  The color is way closer to the original car

Thanks,

John

I really like the satin finish on the wheels that came with the kit

BTW - I ordered a 2oz bottle of B28 touch up paint - the factory Ice Blue.  The Vallejo Ice Blue is more of a lavendar color.

If I recall, enamel/lacquer over acrylic is a no-no so I'll be stripping

Thanks,

John

KeavDog,

I've got that kit in the stash. I bought it hoping to build my R53 (05 MINI Cooper S), but she didn't have the JCW body kit and the wheels are wrong for my car.  Fortunately, there are several Fujimi kits with the correct wheels on Evilbay right now, some reasonably priced with free shipping from Japan. May have to get the Revell kit for a LHD dash though.  Looking forward to the build.

Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.

My 2 cents. Vallejo Model Air colors spray very easily easily and do great finishes. The other groups of Vallejo paints take a little bit of practice with thinning to spray well.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.

I got this cool little kit for Christmas.  Its a curbside so the build should go pretty quick.

I wanted to do the Ice Blue version of the Cooper - cool color (no pun)

Ice Blue Mini

I ordered Vallejo Game  Color 72.095 - Galcier Blue.  This is my first time spraying these colors and man, the gum up the airbrush but they lay down dead smooth.

Not sure its the exact color - but I'm going with it.

Hoping it pops with a gloss clear coat.

Thanks,

John
