Tips it in. I'm always amazed at the modeling skills I see on this forum.

Thanks, Glenn.

I have to say, the ability make up & print decals at home is the single coolest thing I've stumbled onto in all my years in the hobby. It opens doors to all sorts of cool projects that would have been out of reach otherwise.

Also works well for my once-in-a-while long-term project of building Chicago-area themed vehicles. So far I've got this one, an Illinois Bell service van conversion, and a 'Blues Brothers'-era police cruiser. Next up will probably be the CFD's Ambulance 6---stationed at Engine 78 across the street from Wrigley Field.

Excellent. Did you make the ChiKawgo decals too?

Thanks.

I did make the decals. I happened to run across a beautiful extreme closeup of the city seal on a plow truck door on somebody's blog, which was the genesis of the whole project.

I built the AMT kit last year, in my 'hometown' colors. It's an awesome kit and still (I believe) readily available.

Be aware that it represents a more-or-less 1960s version of the prototype, and 1970s-era molds. Lots of sinkholes and seams on nearly every piece...but it's an impressive slab of plastic when finished:

Congrats to your dad on his retirement! It's a great gift idea.

Cheers

Check around Amazon, online model retailers, etc. Sometimes eBay is not the cheapest option.

Thanks guys thats exactly what I was looking for.  Saw a pic on google with it but couldnt see what the make/model was.  Did a search on that and found it on ebay.

Tough price for it though, but its my dad, he deserves it.

AMT used to make a Ford LNT8000 Snowplow in 1/25th scale.  The kit was one of their 3 in 1 kits.  It could be built as a tractor, a dump truck, or with the plow.

Anyone know if any company makes a plow truck style model?

Like this:  http://wausauequipment.com/recent-deliveries/plow-truck

My dad has plowed for a city for over 30 years, retireing soon and I want to surprise him with a nice model of something close to what he drove for so long.

A google search has led me to only small F-150 style model kits with plows.
