Don ;
I remember the ones you are looking for . Rots a Ruck ! I have been looking for American style rims and wires for modern and classic cars . No such luck . I can find plenty of P.E. Wire kits for Ferraris and Lambos , but nothing else !
EdGrune Don Stauffer Anyone aware of a source of wire wheels for older cars- pre-ww2, with narrow rims, say 4.5 to maybe 6 inch? I have seen in the past lace them yourself types, or PE spoke ones, but can't find any venders any more. Carl @ 3D Model Parts makes some. Those are nice for modern (post WW2) cars. I am looking for something with larger diameter, smaller tire. Race cars used 16, 17, or 19 inch wheels with bitty tires before that.
There used to be some nice ones from England that supplied rims, hub, and wire (looked like electrics bus wire) for lacing in a continuous pattern, with an assembly jig. Took awhile to train your hands for the lacing, but they looked great. Etzel kits, a few other resin kits, used to feature them. They were also available directly from mfgr.

If my memory serves me correcty, there was an article in of all things, FineScale Modeler years ago that showed how to make your own wire wheels. I think that I have it around here somewhere.
I usually see them built up by the modeler.
