Love the Cobra and color! I have one on my bench ready to build. I actually own the 1:1 car so I have a ready reference but I have been intimidated to take on replicating it. This gives me a little more inspiration. Your model looks very much like the ral thing. Well done

Here’s a close-up of one of the two rough spots underneath the windshield frame. It‘s not terrible, just one of those flaws that us OCD modelers always knows is there. Like a professional model maker I knew use to say, ”Always incorporate at least one flaw on every project to let the evil spirits out!”

No mistaking it .... "THAT"  is a Cobra !

Where ever your "Goof" was on the windshield, I can't see it.

Nice save !

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Oh yeah - that's a very nice Cobra! I'm happy to hear your Lady likes it! Seems to be an indication of a good taste! :-))

CA and transparent plastic is a risky combination, but needs to be done at times. Here's your learning experience!

Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Paweł

Thank‘s Greg for the kind words.

This is the first time Ive used Photobucket since they announced the $400 photo file ransom requirement last year. It looks like they now offer 2G free file storage/ link access with their standard torturous website interface. I’d like to switch over to a better free service or better yet download photos directly to the forum someday. I welcome any advice!

Will be interesting to see if my posted photos continue to stay on here....

Love that blue.  Turned out nice.  I have the 1/16 cobra kit and this is inspiring!

Thanks,

John

Your Cobra looks great! Yes

Great paint job and detail work.

I notice you are using Photobucket. That isn't something often seen lately. Would it be rude of me to ask which subcription plan you have/how much is your ranson......I mean,  subscription?

I've extremely curious because I just got taken down the pea patch by a second free 3rd image host, this time postimage.

Cobra for the wife

Here’s my latest assembly, Monogram’s 1/24 Cobra 427 S/C, the street machine supplied with wire wheels and skinny tires.I did this build for my wife who prefers small fast cars to my regular larger builds of WWII aircraft, ships & armor.  I also wanted more experience painting shiny subjects.

I ordered after market Halibrand six-spoke racing wheels/ tires from Historic Racing Miniatures but the 1/25 size just looked way too small to my eye. I acquired several Accurate Miniature Grand Sport Corvette kits off eBay last year at the screaming deal of $7/ each ( both missing photo-etch) and used a set of their incorrect five-spoke wheels/ tires/ knock-offs for this build.

All chrome plating was removed using Easy-Off and replaced with airbrushed Alclad chrome over black gloss enamel.  Side pipes were sprayed with Alclad burnt iron. Exterior blue/silver stripes done using Tamiya rattle can mica blue over silver leaf with Tamiya fine grey primer underneath. Remaining engine/ chassis/ interior was airbrushed with Tamiya acrylics.

This build went smoothly until I attempted to bond the windshield frame to the body using Zap-A-Gap medium CA. I applied too much CA to the frame bottom and tried to hold the parts manually to set onto the very slick lacquered surface which failed to stick and resulted in two ugly globs of CA...ugh! I chipped off and sanded my CA disaster and tried local masking and re-spraying (with AB) both silver under coat and blue on these two spots but  the finished repair looks like my Cobra made a visit to a really bad body shop!

Despite my error, the wife is happy with her Cobra (she hasn’t inspected it yet with her reading glasses!). I am enjoying the fast turn around and quick gratification of car builds and look forward to completing two I’ve started simultaneously - the AMT ‘61 bubble-top 409 Chev and the Revell ‘50 Olds 88 Carrera Panamerican race winner. Will post pics if/ when I conquer these two.
Cheers,
John
