Presenting my latest, Tamiya’s excellent 1/24 ‘55 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing, built mostly OOB with the exception of a photo-etch grill and wheel cover inserts from Hobby Design. Silver is Tamiya TS-17 Gloss Aluminum with TS-13 clear coat, interior airbrushed with Tamiya Field Blue acrylic XF-50, window frames masked and airbrushed with Alclad Chrome over Testors black enamel. This is s an incredibly well fitting and engineered kit. I especially liked Tamiya’s metal appliqué details, sure wish someone would make and market these for all available car model kits, they are so to scale and cool looking. Highly recommended!!! Enjoy,
More pics,
Beautiful.

Nice!I am wondering if anyone makes red plaid decals for the interior, many 300SLs ,including Sophia Lorens, had plaid interiors.
That turned out really nice! Cool subject - Hemmings has one for sale for 1,750,000. Guess I'll pick up the kit
Thanks,
John

Scale Motorsport has plaid, but alas, not in red. Nice work on the 300!

I have that kit in the stash, it is about #3 in queue. This thread may cause me to move it forward!

Hmmm?
Okay where's da keys ? Very nice panel fit and paint work . Mine had a brownish leather interior . I traded it for a Studebaker " Black - Hawk " ( A Golden Hawk with roots blower and all black trim . ) at a Concourse in Atlanta .
This was my first experience with a Mercedes and not my last either !
Very nice pics. Taking photographs outside is a big plus.
