Thank you guys!  The roles that were usually offered to Glenn Ford were of the everyday man who does an extraordinary thing or a typically laid back person.  I guess I am one of those people who got the watch a lot of TV during my youth and this show was one of those that I had watched.  I remember the Jeep, but details of that Jeep escape me, so I can only replicate what I remember or see in the opening credits.

Oh Boy !

Talk about going back in time ! I remember that Jeep ! I never could imagine that he would go on a high  speed pursuit  in a Jeep like that one  ! Very laid back show . Glenn Ford was portrayed as a very laid back lawman .

Wow Mike this is freaking ESP or what!  Just a couple of days ago I was thinking of the same TV series and wham here is this thread I just happen to stumble on. It’s like wishing to see a particular movie then one turns on the tv and there it is!

Excellent job on that jeep  Beer

Thank you guys!  I have, off and on for years, been humming the Cade's County theme song to myself.  I got the kit through a sell-off of a late Classic Plastic Model Club member Jon Talcott's stash of kits.  All 1300 of them!  It was the only Jeep CJ-5 kit he had in his stash.  He had flat-fendered Jeeps and Tamiya Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited kits in his stash, so this kit is rather rare.  I was the only one to bid on this kit and I got it.  Unfortunately, while Jon was hospitalized, the corner of his house collapsed and the melting snow filled his basement with several inches of water and this kit was on the bottom.

The TV series ran for only 1 season and half way through the season, the show was retooled and Cade lost the Jeep for a black Chrysler Imperial.  The series was cancelled inspite of the retooling.

I like it.  Never saw the show.  Which kit is that?

Thanks,

John

I like your jeep a lot and it makes me wonder how I missed the show. Yes

Like most baby-boomers, I watched a LOT of TV. Didn't realise Glenn Ford was still active in '72.

I am (gulp!) of an age to remember 'Cade's County' (in first- and probably only-run)...but while I recall the likes of, say, yet another of William Shatner's low-key and nuanced performances...I confess I don't recall the Thompson submachinegun! Big Smile

That having been said, it's excellent work!

Were the insignia part of a kit release, or sourced elsewhere?

[Nevermind...I found the answer in your post on modelcarsmag!]

This is my Jeep CJ-5 from the 1971 TV series Cade's County starring the late Glenn Ford.  It is painted with Tamiya TS-48 German Grey and weathered to represent a vehicle used and abused daily in the California desert.
