1957 Two Tone Ford Custom

Engine wired and plumbed.  Refinished in BASF driftwood grey and Jonquill yellow lacquers, DuPont urethane clear coat.  Scratch built distributor, fuel filter assembly, starter solenoid, parking brake assembly.  Added valve stems and wheel weights to the tires.

This is the first time I ever used decals for the white walls.  I was impressed how well they turned out.

I literally said wow about 6 times scrolling through your pictures.  What a fantastic job you've done there!  Really stunning finish with the grey and yellow.  The engine bay looks so real - What did you do the intake manifold?  A light wash?  Perfect level of grime.  Really nice and thanks for posting.

Thanks,

John

Beautiful work. I always love seeing under the hoods of the cars from the 50/60's when I didn't have to wonder what the function was of half the things I was looking at.

A number Army Viet Nam scans from hundreds yet to be done:

Have had the great fortune to be on every side of the howitzers.

WOW. Nicely done. The mid to late 50s was two tones and pastels. Black and white, red and white, light blue and white, black and red, black and yellow, etc. I did my first drive in a 1958 Ford Sunliner that was light blue on the bottom and white on top with a matching interior like your model.

I'll add a comment, NOT a criticism. The thin line white wall tires first appeared on the 1962 model year cars. The white wall decals look great and that 57 would have been around for several tire changes as those old tires usually only lasted for about 30,000 miles. Thunder Road. Was that the moonshine running movie with Robert Michum?

RangerJ;

        That was exactly the flick referred to. Trivia-That was also the only time Robert Mitchum picked up a Guitar and sang publicly for a film .Eight Fords were used in the flick and the last one came from a local wrecking yard !

    Thank You for a job Well done.I have to say she does look better to me with the narrower whitewalls. It makes her look Classier.

I used the kit supplied decals.I had my doubts but they went on suprisingly easy, For some odd reason this kit had some of best decals I had ever used.

I haven't built too many cars, so I didn't realize some came with seat decals. Yours turned out awesome.
