Thank you keavdog!  This is the old Monogram kit from 1981 that was never reissued.

Thank you Lee!  Build the new one?  I probably won't since the long wheelbase versions don't enthuse me at all.  I have always liked the 88" wheelbase versions better!

Mr. Mike,  you must build several models concurrently.

Nice looking truck, man.

Nice 88" wheelbase model; I always like that one better than the 109". I had a buddy with an 88" Series III, also, like yours, built to North American specs, but painted in the British Army camo pattern. Great vehicle. Your build looks great; nice detail.

"Why do I do this? Because the money's good, the scenery changes and they let me use explosives, okay?"

Superb Mr Mike! Our eldest son bought an ex-army paratroop short-wheelbase just with a full canvas top about 30 years old. He used it for competitive cross country trialling/ rock crawling.

He got a 3rd place trophy first time out and the guys with their multi thousand pound converted Range Rovers etc. wouldn't speak to him the 2nd time out when he got a 2nd place trophy!

Mark's cost just £500 with no mods at all! He trialled it as well as using it as his daily driver for 12 months notching up various top 3 trophies, then sold it on!

Remember , common sense is not common.

Thank you Ted, HooYahDeepSea and Pat!

A lot of people sem to think that they have to add all kinds of aftermarket equipment to their 4X4s to make them competitive.  Land Rover use to build just a basic plain Jane vehicle that could and would go anywhere.  My, how times have changed!  Today, many 4X4s never go off the road and coddle their occupants with luxury everything.

Ted, I do have several builds going at one time.  It keeps me busy.  When I don't want to work on one, I'll work on the another.

Ya Know;

     After all the changes to the real vehicle. It's nice to see a model of a " Real" Land Rover" Not the gussied up vehicle folks drive today . Very Nice !

Thank you Tank - Builder!

The Land Rovers of today at more for the country club set than someone wanting to take off for the woods on the weekend.  If the 4-wheel drive is used at all, it's to get down their mile long driveway to fetch the daily newspaper.

Hi;

   I did have one for a short while. brought it back from Saudi Arabia on the Afterdeck of my ship. The fun part was that no one liked to drive it but me. Why? the controls and wheel were on the right hand side of the vehicle.

 I sold it on about six years after I got it. It certainly helped me out on some Jobsites. Working around the Tamiami Trail and other boggy places proved it's worth.

These old Land Rovers are designed to work in the worst of conditions and they have proved themselves for decades!  It is funny how so many people are put off when it comes to a right hand drive vehicle.
