Wire Wheels for Regular Cars.

Hi;

     Just wondering, How many really beautiful Wire wheels in plastic have you seen produced for 1/25 and 1/24 model cars? There are some really good ones out there. No, on most you can't see through them, but, some are beautifully done, and hard to find.

   Many have moaned about this and there were folks who stepped up to the plate and showed how to do it with plastic rims. There are also some who were able to mill the rims from metal or plastic pipe.

   This covers the Kit wheel rims. You can take these and if you want real wire there is a way to do it. Scale Auto has run and re-run the articles. I now make my own that way and use a Molotow Chrome pen on the wires and rims when done. Can you say Gorgeous?

    It isn't hard ,you just have to do one thing. For every wire you clip out ,you have to replace it with real wire right then and there! When you're done it's Round ,True and very nice to look at. Paint or Chrome to your desires!

 I could go on, but check out the How To's in Scale Auto and Wire away! Oh! I had to mention this. Some many years back (1984?) Monogram had a 1/43 scale Cobra Roadster with the 289 With full tube frame. The wires were P.E. and beautiful on that little jewel! T.B.

I still find a lack of wire wheels for older cars, the 17 or 19 inch ones with narrow rims.  The only good ones I know of are finecast, and they are hard to find and order from.  I don't understand why there are not us aftermarket ones available.  Maybe I am an oddball- maybe nobody else builds models of old cars (but the old car kits are out there).

Fujimi made some nice wire wheels.  All plastic, each wheel is 4 sets of spokes.  So they don't look like lowrider wheels.  Multiple center cap choices.  Gold and chrome.  Came with tires.
