I don't know what goes through the mind of Tamiya. It is possible that the Mustang GT4 was chosen because it is a racecar and not stock. Tamiya does seem to make mostly racecars. I have seen a couple of attempts at making the Mustang GT4 a stock looking car and they came out looking very nice!
I will consider doing a WIP here on FSM with my next new build.

This is my Tamiya Ford Mustang GT4. It is painted with Tamiya TS-4 German Grey with a Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clearcoat, wired, and decaled with kit decals and tire decals by Slixx.
