Haze left from Easy Off chrome removal

Thanks folks. Sorry so slow getting back, gonna give them another easy off soak, and if that dont work, I will try the windex, alcohol, and purple power suggestions. It is mystifying, i watch videos of folks soaking thier parts and they come out just fine, but like I said, this is the Nostalgic Release from RC2 and the chrome/gold was as thick as the parts themselves.

My tried and true way to remove chrome plating is to soak it in Windex, with an additional 25% ammonia, to speed it up.  It works slowly, sometimes needs to soak overnight, but I have never had any kind of problem with getting the parts nice and clean.

Alcohol has my vote.  I've got 99% aviation-grade isopropyl alcohol I use for removal of paint and other assorted residues.  I would also recommend a cheap electric toothbrush to give you some scrubbing action and help dislodge things from the nooks and crannies, while being extremely gentle around tiny details that might otherwise be damaged by conventional toothbrushes.

 

About the only crud that iso will not take off is silicone likeWD-40.

I wonder if the haze is actually from the Easy-Off.  It could be the lacquer undercoat used by the chroming phase and the Easy-Off was just starting to work it's magic on it.

Try brake fluid or give it a soak in something like Bleche White or Purple Power.  Maybe try some rubbing alcohol.
