Great subject - love the old British sports cars. Good luck and keep us posted.
Oh Boy!
I have that in Multiples! Just loved my real one as well. Had it during the time that they changed the packaging of the kit. That, done right is a well thought out model. I have bought After Market Wire Wheels for her!
NO! don't worry, they ain't those ubiquitus Ferrari Wheels you see so often. I caught up with these after my last trip to H.C.H. here in San Antonio. Yes, they are resin, But they are also gorgeous under a thin Coat of Molotow Chrome!
Thanks.
This is a cool, but unusual subject, at least here in the states. Looks great.

Thank you.
Those are great looking British cars. I always wanted one of those when I was in college. I couldn't afford one of those so I had to settle for a TR-4.
British sports cars are very rare. I think that most have rusted into nothingness.
Your comments and questions are always welcome.
What body color and brand did you use, Lee?
I ask becuause it is one of my two favorite body colors. I like yours better than the prototype pic. Looking good so far.
Thanks. I mixed my paint to match at work. I think I have some left, if you need something painted in that color you can pm me and we can talk.

Wow, you must be a talented paint mixer becuase from your pics so far, it looks better than spot on.
Thank you for your kind offer. I don't have any immediate need for the color, but it sure sparked memories of something from long ago, and vivid they were.
Thanks. Appreciate the kind comments.
Engine completed. May have to rethink the air cleaners for lack of room under the hood.
Looking good, Lee! Keep it going!
Made air cleaner corrections.
That's a sweet (straight-6?) engine! Looks real!
My dad purchased a Florida Green '62 A-H 3000 in '64 as his mid-life crisis car. I loved riding in it with the top down, the smell of the leather and motor oil (and occasionally brake fluid!). Seems like he was always adjusting the tri-carbs. Dad offered it to me when I started driving in '70 but I turned him down, I wanted a super-stock Chevy (which I never got....). Still kicking my backside!
I'll have to look into those resin after-market wire wheels mentioned above, wonder if they would work with the new Revell XKE?
Looking forward to seeing this blue beauty come together.
Those multiple carbs were no fun to balance. The preceedure was to place one end of a hose to the carb and the other end to your ear and listen to the air hiss. You would adjust the set screws until the hiss sounded identical from each carb.
Thanks. Yes, its a 6.

I also would have liked the AH, but could only afford a TR-3.

Looking good! I want to see more!
Thanks. Next up is interior painting, then chassis assembly.
A little progress. Basic interior paint.
Where would I find the wire wheels you mention?
There are a number of kits that have them. 3 i know off the top of my head are the AMT 65 Buick Riviera, the AMT Silhouette, and the AMT 62 Thunderbird. I have a small stash of wires and am not sure what kit the ones I'm using are out of.
I tried this once.
I don't know if you could do it now. Remember when LINDBERG first brought out the 53 Ford Victoria Convertible kit? It had wires that resembles K/H American pattern. I called their customer service and they actually gave me the name of the company molding and plating those. I bought four sets.
Now this Aftermarket set is from 3DModelparts.com. They are the Sixty Spoke type. Open all the way through. They include the two earred Knock off as well. If you get these , be Careful. The Knockoffs are small enough to be mistaken for Mold Sprue Trash. A minimum of wet sanding on the backside cleans all the mold? overpour off.
You get Five Wheels and Five KnockOffs. My price was $24.99 plus Tax. That's here in San Antonio at Hill Country Hobbies.
I like your body paint better than your insperation!
Thanks!
A little progress.
Coming along nicely, Lee.
I agree, engine looks great.
Looks great to me !
Thanks. I'm not happy with the piping. I'm going to repaint and use some seat pattern decals I have.
Rollong chassis and interior finished.
