Well;
It's Here. The Grand 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham by Atlantis Toy and Hobby. Guess What? It's the same kit I have in my stash times two. Only it's Dakota Red instead of the Ugly Blue Black/Anthracite it used to be. Same kit different time frame. The surprising thing and one that made me laugh is this.
Great Boxcover with the same art as years ago. The Figures just aren't in the picture! Of course it shows a Red Cadillac! Now here's the laugh. They did not lie. It's exactly the same Multi-Piece Body from years ago. BUT, someone at Atlantis didn't do their homework.
Carefully observed the box art shows a RED car,Yes, But also a RED and WHITE interior. Now here's the source of the funny. The instructions tell you to paint the interior Dark Blue and Light Blue! With Silver trim! Okay, that's possible but not believable as to color combination. Now in Step two they tell you to paint the ( Body TOP) Black! and the Dash top Dark Blue! And the Roof Silver!
This is exactly the same instruction sheet that Revell put out when they did the car. Nothing's changed except the Atlantis LOGO. One thing that has changed for the Better is the Decals. You get the Crimson and Gold center medallions for the Wheel-Covers, Whitewalls, Virginia and new York State license decals , the Caddy crown for both fenders and for the Hood and Trunk, very precise and on register!
The Chrome is okay. There is a blemish on top of the Passenger side of the Front bumper bar just below the Turn Signal/Park Light So either remove the chrome and Alclad it. Or like me, Smooth it out and foil it!
The Bag for the body parts is weirdly rough at the heat seal. Looks like something I would've done with my first try at a "Seal-A-Meal" Machine. The Chrome and Body parts are bagged separately ! The Windows? Well Model Builders, they are just floating around loose in the Box. BUT, surprise! Not a scratch and still the same thickness they were back then. The headlightlights are molded with the glass already in them on the chrome. The only Windows you get are the two Vent windows and the Rear and Windshield glass?
Now all in all, Just What I hoped For! Why? Well, with the Better Fitting, two part body parts it will build up nicely. If you want to keep it Dakota Red, as it comes, well, you'll have to paint it after you fill the sink marks in the lower body sides. At Least they are only half as deep as the last REVELL version was! I did make some Dakota Red(Sprue) Glue for that
But a great looking model of a Car I have always loved since I saw a ( What I call "Morning Blue Metallic") version of it in the dealership in Buffalo when I went next door and Bought MY 57 Chevy Bel-Air-2dr, H.T for a Third! of what the Caddy cost! Funny name those two dealers."Klements-Gillogly" Chevrolet and right down the Block,"Tinney Cadillac." What Memories! Enjoy Oh Lame joke here. Considering what folks were saying The dealership should've been TINNY Chrysler! Because that's what everyone was saying about the Chrysler cars! and and if for the dealership Because they did sell a lot of used Chryslers!
