A sporty Rabbit - AMT Scirocco out of box

I always liked the looks of the Scirocco, but the original Golf/Rabbit GTI was a genuine blast to drive in a time when cars were slow and boring and really pretty ugly.

My very first brand new car was a 1984 Wolfsburg Edition VW Rabbit with 4 speed, AM/FM cassette and a sun roof (old style that rolled back into the roof). No AC so when I entered active duty in that car at Fort Knox, KY in July, it was hot as heck.

Sold it when I got to Germany in 1988 and bought a Mitsubishi Montero.

I've got the original AMT Rabbit I built circa 1984 and bought another unbuilt one a few years back on eBay.

My original Rabbit kit was molded in that same red plastic. My car was silver and it took some work to cover the red.

My ex wife's first car was a vw rabbit Wolfsberg Volkswagen convertible.  cool little car. 

If I remember right from having an 024 Omni back in around 81-82, they had the Scirocco engine.
