Finally, after 1 and a half months, I have finally finished my corvette. This is my first car model, and second model, and I have to say, I am pretty proud of it, and it looks better than I thought it would! Although there were some things that were ugly, and a few problems here and there, I still got it finished.
I want to talk exterior first. I wetsanded the surface from 3600-12000 grit sanding pads, and polished it with Tamiya Polishing compound. It looks so good, it looks as if it's wet with water. It's that shiny!
As you may have noticed, I have not added the fog light (I think) and the reflectors, as well as the blinker, since I do not have any clear orange or red paint available, which I might have to buy soon.
Then let's talk about the back. There were 2 designs for the liscense plate, but I added New Mexico instead of Montana because a Corvette this beautiful wouldn't be sitting in the winter, wouldn't it lol?
Now let's talk about the interior. If you seen my other post about this model, you would have known that the interior was pretty glossy, considering that it was the interior. Luckily, whilst I was adding a flattened down Semi Gloss to some parts, I decided to use the leftover satin for the interior, and it has flattened down significantly, and it resembles the interior more accurately, instead of some toy in which the interior looks so glossy!
Now, the moment you have been waiting for... The engine!
There were some fitting problems with the engine. The engine was a tad bit huge, and it interfered with the hood closing, and there was an unsightly gap that could be seen, whereas only little of it would be seen in a properly closed hood. So I decided to custom make the hatches for the hood, making them elongated so it can fit more flushly. It did, so now it looks acceptable.
The engine itself was really spot on. It was a little too matte, in my opinion. But it turned out great.
In conclusion, this was the best car model I made, because it is the only car model I made! :). But, there is another kit waiting for me to build it, which is a 1968 Ford Shelby GT500, which looks like a beut. I am pretty proud of this kit. Unfortunately, I accidentaly dropped a drop of glue in the middle of the clear plastic, and it left an unsightly fog into it. Whilst I was also glueing the clear glass, the paint bled into the plastic piece, and maid stains near the top of it. UGH. All in all, it was a good kit, and except for the glass accident, it was a really fun time.
