Thank you guys!  Somehow a plain-Jane Grand National was pale in comparison with a Buick GNX, which I have in my collection.  The T-Type seemed to be a natural addition and it was easy to build since I did have the unloved Grand National on the shelf.

I've always loved that body style. My grandfather had a Grand National. I called it Knight Rider, LOL! I actually took my driver's license test in a 1983 Regal Limited. I drove that car for about 3 years. We called it "The Blue Goose".

Awesome job on the kit!

Turned out great.  Great color and the wheels/tires looks good.  Gotta love that aggressive body style.

Thanks,

John

I saw on the news today and 87 GNX rolled across the auction block yesterday and sold for $215K!

Looking good Pat Mike  Cool color.  Have you every tried ALC119?  It's call Airframe Aluminum and it comes out mirror shiny.  May not be right for scale effect - just thought I'd mention.  Here it is on my tiny 1/200 DC-3

Thanks,

John

I got the front and rear panels ready for assembly along with my license plates.  The blob of glue on the rear license plate was removed after the picture was taken.  The engine compartment was masked off and painted with Tamiya TS-29 Semi Gloss Black.

Thanks Pat!

I now need to mask off the body to paint the engine compartment and then I can paint the roof interior.

Thanks guys!

I painted the Regal T-Type today with Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red and chromed the bumpers with Alclad II Chrome paint.

I find it interesting that when you search for a Buick Grand National, the many pictures of the car is that of the GNX or are many people adding the faux side scoops and lace wheels to their Grand Nationals?

Looking good.  Looks like the first GN was in 82 and the GNX was 87 only

Thanks,

John

I've been working at the T-Type for a few days.  I finished the interior.

The chassis is partially complete.  It got me to wondering about certain mounting points on the rear suspension.  I compared the T-Type with my GNX and the GNX has a Panhard bar and a rear axle stablizer and the T-Type doesn't have any.  Which came first the Grand National or the GNX?

The front and rear bumpers were seperated from the grille and rear panels, cleaned up and are ready for some Alclad II Chrome paint.

Hmmm; I talked myself out of a ticket in My G.N. I was on my way home from the dealer after taking delivery. Fast ride!

Had a friend who had a T-Type back in the late 80's. Slightly "modified" I was a passenger doing over 150mph in that thing

I was a fan of that body style - especially the GNX!

Thanks,

John

1987 Buick Regal T-Type

I am trying to get myself out of a rut with this build.  This is a '87 Buick Grand National that has been sitting on the shelf for many years untouched and unloved.  My plans are to paint it Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red with the current gray and black interior.  Plans call for the engine to be wired, chrome bumpers, some repainting and touchups.  It will be known as a Buick Regal T-Type since I have removed all of the GN decals, but the car will be a Grand National underneath.
