Christmas Build Challenge 2021-22 AMT 32 Ford Vicky
Posted by bobbaily on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 6:13 PM

Taking part in snapdragonxxx's Christmas Build Challenge and decided to pull the AMT '32 Ford Vicky out of the stash for various reasons-I built the same kit about 55 years ago, wanted to replicate a 'barn find' gasser that I saw online and considered it for a Weekend Madness GB a couple of years ago-tossed that idea after closer examination of the kit.

Had primed the body several years ago but that's about the extentend of it.

Found instructions on Scalemates that showed a Gasser/Altered suspension that the new kit doesn't show-but the parts were there.  Got the suspension together with the help of CA. Reminded me why I like Monogram/Revell for auto kits.....

Going thru the "spares/never finished box" to find a better engine than the engine. provided.

Can I ask you where you went on scalemates to find replacement instructions?  I recently bought a Lindberg Blackbeards ship kit and it didn't have instructions.  Thanks

I usually Google something like Lindberg Blackbeard review and Scalemate will usually show on the first page-I just did a quick search and the kit showed but no instructions.

Sorry

Spent some time on painting the body & chassis-had painted the body red but wasn't happy with it-decided to go with a 'slightly weathered' build-a barn find being converted to a drag racer.

decided to do a 'mock up' with the fenders-without fenders would put this car in the Altered class-with fenders would put it in the Gasser class-a better fit-so did the mock up and decided to paint & weather-still no glue has been used so I've got time to change my mind multiple times....

Looks like a very interesting build Bob! Can't wait to see the rest of it.

Thank you Jim-still experimenting with adding rust & weathering.  This build will become a test bed after it's completed the first time.

Mr Tom Schry-You're welcome.

Having said that, I just did another Google search and found this-

https://www.round2corp.com/hlmki/

If you scroll down, you will see several 'pirate' ship kit instructions listed-you might want to look at those instructions and hopefully see one that is or is close to your kit.to

Tried to PM you but that option doesn't appear on your profile page-maybe I did something wrong?

Cheers

Bob
