Chrome and Brass Paint

Bad news, I think. In all my years, I've never seen a paint that adequately re-creates "chrome". There are quite a number of very good paints that will produce a very bright silver, but none can truly produce a "chrome" like appearance.
Maybe try Bare Metal Foil, or a plastic metalizer (electroplater).
If you DO find a paint that can really replicate chrome, please let me know.

For the chrome finish there's only one solution, Alclad II. You can have a look at my Enzo to see what it looks like ( http://niclasproos.fotopic.net/c125287.html ) I don't know if Alclad II has brass, but they have copper, aluminium and gold so you should be able to mix something on your own.

My shop just came up with Alclad (which, IS the only way) in spray cans. Having used both the bottled laquer and the spray, I find the spray to be much less of a hassle. To use it, you just need to paint it gloss black, then spray over the chrome. I usually put a clear coat over that...to keep it shiny, and protect it from my fingers.

I've used MM acrylic brass on shell caseings before and it seems to look pretty good. I'm with everyone else though on the chrome, no acrylics or enamels I have used come close to looking good.

Everyone is righ on. Aclad is the best. I don't think it is a true looking chrome finish but it definitly looks perfect for the scale. MM chrome isn't too bad, not the best either. It looks good for smaller peices and for bolts. Just have to take good care of the MM chrome, it'll start to look very dull if the paint isn't kept thin and sealed (in the bottle I mean). Metalizer Brass is nice. I usually paint it over a base of gold.
