Shelby Charger kit
Posted by bigbluejavelin on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 2:32 PM

So in 1983 when I was but a young guy I bought my first and only new car, a 1983 Dodge Shelby charger. When the kit came out I of coarse bought it as I had a great reference to model it! Never finished it as it had some discrepancies, notably the air cleaner was not correct and it included decals for a silver car with blue stripes. Later they replaced it with a snaptite kit of the turbo version that was of a blue car with silver stipes like what I had. So, does anyone know what is different as far as the kits go? Different parts? I am looking at getting the turbo version to have the right decals, but I also had a 1986 turbo as well, also blue with silver stripe. Would be cool to finish the one I started way back then, but would like to do my turbo as well.

Hi,

Dig through this site and see what it says.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

According to scalemates they are two different  kits.

The old kit you have is probably an MPC kit - this one:

The snaptite is a Monogram kit

But there is a turbo version by MPC:

Here is the lineage of Shelby Charger kits on scalemates

Finish that old one!

Thanks,

John
