3 in1; That was an Era!

How many of you built the Shallowed -Interior Autos they called 3in 1 kits?

How well do you remember them? I remember them fondly. The Flattop Olds-Four Door, and the Buick and Chevy with the crazy fins. Take a hammer now, don't scratch the wheelcover and tap the wheel core(Wheelcover and wheel) into those semi hard tyres!

Nine times out of ten, The steering wheel wound up resting on the seat. The windows were thick, Couldn't prove that in clumsy kids hands, and were locked into place with these little plastic rings, That locked the interior in too!

Bottom plate, All that detail molded in, Remember they didn't have engines yet! Ah! The best is yet to come. Four self threading screws, Into the chassis plate and then through the heavy plate extending out from the Bumper Grille/Headlight piece! Remember that? And the fact that the Buicks sagged if you screwed it down to tight. The Chevy's Cat's Eye grilles went in from behind. They never went all the way in either!

Now the Extra pieces. Cruiser Skirts, Antennaes, Glue on fins, Louvers and scoops. Decals that definitely got used up on one car! Spotlights, some with the Mirror on the back! For the chassis you had Lowering Blocks front and rear, So you could give it that Hot Rod stance. Or Racing stance. Looked like Failed hydraulics to me!

Now, given all that you should be happy right? Okay A.M.T. How do we paint them? Oh Yeah! Testors and a Brush. Barn paint anyone? Luckily I lived in an area that heard of PACTRA. I have seen many of those "Glue Bombs" as We call them now! I Dunno, they looked pretty good to their owners, including Me, That's what counted Right? You Bet, See ya Next time  T.B.

Those were great fun to build when I was a kid. I would look at the box trying to decide which of the three options to build. Building the stock version was never an option.
