Here it is! Project "El Gato" is finished. It's based on the AMT '69 Cougar Eliminator kit. (which by the way the box is misleading. wrong wheels, and engine!) http://www.xpphotoalbum.com/showgallery.php?cat=9335&ppuser=3876
The bodywork was a snap on this one. Of course there really aren't that many mods tho. First the obvious, I cut off the Cougar roof, & replaced it eith a Revell '70 'Stang unit. Then the bumpers were smoothed, & molded in. I used .040 sheet styrene to bulk up the hood contour, build the grille divider, & extend the fenders. On the rear I used sheet again to mold the taillight opening. Once the mods were dome I sanded off all the trim, & marker lights. All this was sprayed with Duplicolor Ford Cayman Green, topped with Duplicolor Mirage (gold to magenta), & finished off with 4 coats of clear. I polished it to a dep shine with a Detailmaster polishing kit, & turtle wax polishing compound.
The underhood area is from the same 'Stang kit that donated its roof. I used the kit engine, but added a dual quad intake for visual impact. The kit chassis is virtually intact except for some lowering. The wheels are my very 1st set of aftermarkets, Hoppin Hydros Slim 20" Triton's.
The interior consists of the kit tub, & dash with 90's T/A seats, & F&F supra steering wheel. The seats were a suprisingly good match for the Cougar. They have the same roll & pleat pattern.
