Help Slammin’ My Bonneville
Posted by afv_junkie on Friday, March 24, 2023 9:41 PM

Heya guys! Total noob with modeling cars. That being said, I've always wanted to try my hand at it and finally made the plunge buying an AMT '65 3in1 Bonneville at Hell-mart for $5!! I envisioned a custom look that was slammed but to my chagrin, the kit comes with metal rod axles. No suspension arms.

I know I'm probably out of luck lowering the car but maybe someone out there knows a trick or two. Help!

Hello!

It's good to try somethin' new from time to time!

Usually the thing to do in a case like this would be to take some other kit that has the necessary suspension and "borrow" the necessary parts, or maybe the whole undercarriage. But that is going to be more expensive than those 5$, unless you find something in a yard sale o have some glue bomb handy.

Once I went to a "flea market" in Germany and saw two boxes from Revell. Asked for the price and tha lady told me 1 Euro. I thought it was 1 Euro for a box, but it turned out it was for the whole lot. So I didn't inspect the boxes, just took it home, and at home I discovered I have bought 1 complete Porsche 993, 1 complete Trabant and 1,5 BMW "3" (1 complete and one started). Talk about a deal, huh? Well the suspension (and the wheels) from the started BMW was used to build this bad boy:

Good luck with your build and have a nice day

The promo plate chassis is easy to slam if you just want tp lower the car. Just drill new holes up higher. Of course the suspension geometry will be all wonky if you flip the model over but when on it's wheels you won't see that.
