Nice Sunny day so I painted an AMT 57 Chevy body .

Painters Touch usually goes very well for me. I've shot from the can as well as decanted and a bit of lacquer thinner added then airbrushed. Either way usually turns out very well with extra control and coats going to the airbrush. How did you like using it ?

I think it is great ! absolutely no orange peal and it looks as though they put clear gloss in the paint!

Beautiful color!  That's just about the same color I used for the body of an old 'Mr. Gasser' kit I did a few years ago.  Perfect color for '50's era cars!!

I agree and it's also what I like about Painters touch and 2X Rustoleum. That there are pastels in the line. But besides that, to decant them you can then mix from there. And there are good colors for 30's and 40's cars too, also to decant and mix/blend colors. Though I must admit I do the same with Createx paints, though you need to clear those. These enamels to me are good to displace as sprayed or with maybe a light buffing in a month or so at least.

I like the paint job! I do not think it needs any clear coat!

I doubt it needs clear coat. I like enamels for old classic car builds as it goes on as you mentioned above " glossy and no orange peel". The real cars had no clear coat. The only time I've ever cleared enamel in 60+ years of building models was on race cars where decals were used.

When I use Createx or other acrylics I do clear though. Spraying in the winter I've turned over to acrylics since my wife has asthma and as such I won't spray enamels in the house even with a booth.  She even built a 1960 T Bird back around New Years or so, I sprayed it in Createx yellow and she manned the hair dryer between coats then we cleared it in Pledge. She did all the chrome work, brushed the interior and glued the car together. Her first model ever ! I showed how to do a wash on the grill so she did that and also used clear red on the tail lights. I built one as well in a light blue I mixed up in Createx. They are AMT 1/32 curb side builds that now sit on a book shelf.

        I just love that color! Nice choice! Chevies of that era look good in those shaded, In the Blue /Green and the various Reds and such.

I'll have to try the Painter's Touch brand.  I did mine in Model Master, which turned out well.  

I've not had luck with my limited use of Rustoleum, though.  I have a 65 Riviera permanently on the 'shelf of shame' because the white I used didn't lay down well, and I have yet to find a good way to strip it off.  Stuff that works on other paints this stuff thumbs it's nose at!
