Japanese spec 240Z with G-nose [FINISHED]

This is going to be an early '70s Fairlady Z with a G-nose. It will not be one of the factory colors for a true 240ZG, but rather a "wish it had been offered" dark blue. It will not be getting the bolt on flares of the ZG cars either since they make the car with stock wheels (and hub caps) look anemic. It will keep the fender mounted mirrors since they go with the right hand drive. This could be a semi-clone built back in the day, or something that was done recently.

I painted the chassis as if it was factory stock then added some grime and dirt.

The rear suspension and engine were added. So was a little surface rust on the brake drums.

The wheels are part of why I wanted to build this kit. I'm not a fan of these iconic hubcaps, but they looked to be engineered so well I just had to build them.

I test fitted the exhaust, but it needs to be dirtied up a bit before final installation.

Thank you John! It doesn't build up as quick as I'm posting. Paint has to dry of course. I gave myself a headstart.

I was a bit disappointed to see this. It was visible on both sides. I filled it with CA and continued to paint it Wolf Blue.

Most of the chrome and glass are installed. I'm leaving the side glass out until just before mounting it to the chassis for ease of handling. Talk about a dust magnet…

Well Now!

That is a beautiful Build. In Blue/Black no less. One of my favorite colors when I am doing a classic build!("Wolf Blue", Good sounding name too!)

Excellent work so far and I just loved that gleam on the window chrome in the photo! Your dash is super great too. Athough it reminded me to much of my original Austin-Healy(Same colors as the Revell model too!) Gosh, I haven't thought about that car in years!

When you are done, just pull her into my Garage and leave the keys on the dash! I would be proud to see that on my shelf. Awesome job so far!

That looks really sharp Mark! Now I'm looking for one for the stash...

Buddy in high school had a 240z and 3 of us always hung out. It was rock paper scissors to get the passenger seat. Pretty cramped back there behind the seats lol

Thanks John! The Hasegawa 240Z kits are nice (if that's what you already have), but this Tamiya is significantly better on many levels.

Stole this one on Amazon of all places. I read a great review of this kit and followed a recent build thread. I've always loved the 240Z - buddy of mine in high school had one. Back then there were three of us that hung out and it was rock paper scissor to decide who got shotgun. Third dude had to curl up behind the seats under the glass.... not fun after a night of drinking lol. Anyhow this kit goes for $55 and I saw it 'used' on Amazon for $21 with free shipping (Amazon Prime). I was curious and took the risk because of the subject and reviews. Showed up today and all the parts are factory sealed in their original bags. Amazed - I will hunt for 'used' kits on Amazon!
