Workbench Queens: Projects you will never finish

JEEEEZE.... I'll have to get back to you on this one. I'm going to have to dig really deep to find some unfinished car kits. I know I've got some real "classics" buried around here somewhere.

(BTW... I used to work for Rick on the REAL AC Cobra MkIV's in the "olden days")

Neat idea ! I build very few car models, so have no car kit queens. I do however have a number of airplane model starts that qualify, so I am going to start a similar forum in the aircraft area. I started to post my aircraft queens here, but did not want to face any flak from you car guys !

Also lingering on the bench for oh, say, 6 or 7 years is this project. Actually I have been working on some sub assemblies in the few hours I have had in the last couple years (working for a living is HIGHLY overated) Fujimi Ford GT40 MK II being done as pre-LeMAns 1966, i.e. number not yet assigned and car in "fresh, clean and off the airplane condition. This will be the Gurney car in Rangoon red.




Right door opened, "eyebrow" over door opening added, a couple of hundred seat vent grommets drilled out...Interior is NOT really coated in "funny-fur" just was lying about on the bench and covered in sanding dust. I will probably redo some of it now that the Studio 27 photoetch detail set is avaialble.

It WILL be done, maybe not in my lifetime but it will be finished...

OK, OK... I couldn't find everything, but I'm sure you'll remember this one, Rick. It's an old AMT 289 Cobra converted (part way, at least...) to 427 big-block status. This was waaaaay before the Monogram kit arrived, which immediately deemed this project redundant. Yes, that IS an old Revell Parts Pack 427 Ford engine...

I have a half-built Big Foot monster truck model which will be coming up on its ten year anniversary. I started it as a Sr. in high school and stopped when it came time to paint the roll cage. In those days I had to go out into the yard to spray paint (living with mom and dad) and I didn't feel like walking that far. It has been in the box ever since.

The scanner is all torqued, but I will probably never finish my Revell NAZCA. I stripped some parts for other cars cause it had some sweet stuff.

sorry for no picture but i have monograms 1/12 scale corvette that turned 14. it's completed up to the body being painted and assembled. started this during marrige no.1, and just can't seem to finnish it. maybe the proper aplication of explosive will solve this delema.

sorry, no picture, not really that old of a kit either. 1/12 scale R-32 nissan skyline GT-R. first production was like 7yrs back, but i just got it recently (NOS). Most of the smaller details are done as box stock...other than the exhaust piping, and some wiring in the enginebay. Not in the mood to add in a trunk either. Maybe in the future. I just kept telling my friend that it'll be done sooner or later.

Curently also detailing and refinishing a hard bodied, 1/7 scale F355 body for an R/C car..complete with working lights and a small block I.C. engine. (too many hobbies I'm telling you)...

Once more into the breech...TTT again as we have several new auto posters who may nt have seen this and may have a dark secret of their own.

Hey klem, what did you think of that kit? I've got a couple on my shelf, still sealed. I just liked the look of it so I bought a couple. Any problems, or anything that I should keep in mind when I get around to starting them? Thanks.

Sorry, no cars yet. Just started about a year ago. Haven't worked on models in 40 years and had three wars to go through, Viet Nam and 2 wives. Do I count as an project i will never finish?

What is a 1940 GT. LOL I guess noone figured it out huh Fitter?
