Need help from the car guys

You looking in 1/24 scale?
I'd think many cars in that scale would be a little larger than 3.5" - I've got a 1979 Honda Accord two door (not an overly large car, by any means) - and the wheelbase on the full sized car is 2400mm, divide by 24, and the scaled down wheelbase is 100mm - very close to 4 inches.
So it would have to be a very small car model you'll be looking for with a wheelbase of those dimensions.

It's actually 1/28 scale, for an import car. I am hoping to find some small cars with the wheelbase I need I have found a new beetle and a Lotus Elise with the right WB so far. I wish the R/C car makers would have used 1/24-1/25 scale instead of the oddball scale they used. Oh yea I found a Mini also.
