Finished Fortuna Honda RC211V 02 (Image intensive!)

Hi
Thaught it was about time to present one of my own builds. This is the Fortuna rc211v wich Daijiro Katoh raced in the 2002 season of motoGP.
It's based upon the Repsol rcv from Tamiya and the clothing comes from Studio27.
I've rebuilt the seat cowling to fit Katos shorter length and altered the seat pad. I'm not too satisfied with the cowling but it'll do. To add to realism I've painted cf pattern on several parts, heat stains on exhaust and AlcladII Polished alu on frame, swing arm and some engine detail.
I've swapped Tamiya tubing for fishing line as the tubing is out of scale.
All in all a nice build with an interesting paint scheme. Enjoy.

And so say all of us!! SUPER build, Joel! Dare I say your best yet?!

Just one question. With my fiddling on the Camel version, I saw it's chrome plating actually a nearish match to "the real thing" - not so shiny as previous attempts. Am almost considering leaving it that way this once. Did you clear yours off? And if so - what did you repaint it with? Please don't say Alclad, say Model Master/Metalizers or something...

Thanks SeaBee
I think it's one of the best, yes, mostly due to the nice color scheme (hmm, my GB car is Red on silver base and I yesterday purshased a Xanavi Nismo Skyline...red and silver...please call mr Freud..).
I'm updating my site with fresh pics of my other builds as well, should be done tomorrow evening. I think my West rcv is the best overall project so far. I did some poor decaling on the left side belly cowling on the fortuna. Twice I might add.
I usually strip plating even if it looks ok in the box. I tend to handle my parts a bit rough, and I usually want to putty the swing arm assembly, fill the frame and drill the adjustment pins. Often I also see fine scratches in the plating wich is a real pitty if you're thinking of using it OOB.
Alclad is a bit bothersome I think due to the fact that you have to make a black base cote for polished alu and chrome. I'm yet to try the model master metalizers on larger areas. Used some burnt metal on the exhaust of my Tech3 bike but it sort of splashed all over, like it was to thin...Have to try it again.

What I tend to do (and it worked thusfar for me) is to use the Metalizers straight. No thinning. Mine are all the "airbrush-only" type...

So are mine... and I didn't thin them . Had a real problem to get straight lines with it. Could be my air brush though...
