Mercedes-Benz SLK help needed
Posted by philp on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 9:14 PM
My buddy at work has the special edition of this car and asked me to make a model of it for him.
Couple of questions for you.
I need to find the carbon fiber decal for the center dash. I have seen decals in the more common yellow-green color but not in this blue-silver look. Anybody got some they would like to share or know a source I can pick some up at?

Next, I kneed to find the wheels and tires for this (as they are different than what is in the Tamiya kit, 1/24th). Again, any suggestions?

Anyone out there who can help?

There's a carbon fibre Replication technique in Tamiya's write up on the Enzo build

I don't think you're going to find that color decal for that console though... and btw, it's not carbon fiber, it's actually aluminum if that helps. :)

The wheels are a bit harder, you might see if one of the Fujimi kits has something close to those or look for something aftermarket, but you'll lose the logo in the center.

you can try to find some rims at www.best1hobby.com .fujimi has a bunch of rims. i dont know if theyll have exactly what you looking for but you could always grind or scrachbuilt the spokes and use the circle part of the kit rim. also, try ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2583&item=5907534304&rd=1 here, look at this kit. the rims are almost the same.

Thanks for the assists guys. I will be checking them out.
der_jackal, Thanks for the link for the dash. It really isn't carbon-fibre? I can see that I will have to get a test drive so that I can more accurately duplicate this car Big Smile [:D].

They're fun to drive, just make sure you get to take off on a full tank.... ;)
