about AMT Replica kits...
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 5:02 PM
I picked up an AMT Ertl Replica kit (one of only 3,500 produced, according to the box) at a KB Toys the other day, and I'm curious as to if it's worth anything or if it will be worth anything one day. Oh I forgot to mention it's a '69 Cougar Eliminator (1/25 scale of course). Also, are the molding on these kits any better than the average AMT molds? Thx

I would seriously doubt it will increase much in the medium term. Maybe if you wait for about 50 years. I was at a toy auction a couple of months ago and "modern" limited edition diecast was not even reaching its original purchase price. Franklin Mint was laughable at its cheapness (but there again I think they are quiet average anyway). Dinky as usual was well priced but Corgi etc not so. When will Ertl and others reach the perceived value of Dinky? Anyones guess but I'm picking a long long time.
