No problem at all, I'll help where I can. To answer your question: I use 3M brand car polish for real cars. It's the Haze and Swirl Mark Remover, then follow up with "The Treatment Model Car Wax" to get the final shine. When It's completely finished and right before I put it in the display case I use Tamiya liquid model wax to clean my finger prints off of it and give the decals a little gloss, because I don't clear over my decals.

The clear on this model is the new Testors Clear Lacquer, part of there new line of Lacquer colors. Normally, I use Tamiya sprays or Duplicolor or Plasti-Kote automotive touch up sprays and clears for my models but I wanted to try the new testors paint.

Randy, I didn't have any trouble getting the chassis to fit. The only fit problem I had was with the hood but that was my fault. I added sparkplug wires which then got in the way of the cowl induction piece on the bottom side of the hood and wouldn't let it close all the way. A slight modification and it fit.

juniormodeler..... practice, practice, practice.... and a good polishing kit for when it still doesn't come out right. Actually, a nice smooth coat of primer, light coats of paint then a couple light coats of clear and finally one wet coat of clear will usually do it. Sometimes a light polish is still needed. The best advice I can give about painting is to "watch the paint closely" when it starts to look slick/wet... stop!!! that's the right amount of paint. More than that and it will run... less than that and it will be dull or flat looking.

Chris, the seats were decals that came with the kit. I only wish I was talented enough to paint something like that...

samreichart, you're right... and RS/SS. I should have one today but I don't... it's a long story. To shorten it... my dad bought a Ford Ranchero years ago from a used car lot. He had problems with the Ranchero and they let him borrow an RS/SS just like this one. When they determined that they couldn't fix the Ranchero they offered him the camaro instead... same price, no problem. My dad was so mad he told the to keep both cars and today, I don't have a real RS/SS... (I just know it would have been handed down to me!!!)

Nice work on it! I've always liked the Z/28 stripes over the "hockey stick" stripes on the SS. The deluxe houndstooth interior looks awesome!

I had a real one a couple of years ago (350, not 396) - exact opposite paint scheme (Pace car colors); Boy, I wish I stil had that car...the big block rag tops are fetching a fortune these days.

Nice job man. Did you have the same problem getting the body onto the chassis? I built it and painted mine green. Ill get some pics up if i can get my digital camera working. Looks great though.
