Seriously, I'm in the same situation here. Work take just too much time from me, and with two daughters I don't get much time for bikes between sewing mini-teddy-bears and playing with barbies Kisses [:X]

....I mean it!! Clown [:o)]

I'm also making molds to duplicate a Harley engine in order to make either a HD based cafe racer or a Hill-climber (sort of), so right now i found easier to play with clay and silicone at the office, than painting at home. Big Smile [:D]

Will post some pictures of the pre-molds soon.
Paul, I already sent you my email address to your email, keep looking for it please.
In the meantime, keep building.!!

Hi All,

Just a little update to let you know I've been real busy with my paid work and as such haven't had much time to plough on. That said I hope to be posting pics of the paint job (needed a break from building Grumpy [|(]

and I love painting Big Smile [:D]

) and the finished forks.
Sorry Edgardo can't post the pics of the windowed clutch but I can mail them to you if you want.

I really liked it, I have almost the same idea to do in one of my next projects...still have to finish three bikes before I start any other one, but will have lots of little add ons, like STM evoluzione dry clutch, roll protection, race stand and maybe even a streetfighter lights mask.
I am already onto getting parts that will kitbash to make clutch, studying racing stands pictures to draw my version (will do it with plastic sprue), and finished raw drawings for mask and almost starting to carve it in clay.
BTW, why don't you post another picture of your clutch? close-ups and front-end pictures of the clutch area would be really nice....

Nice job. What you working on? I'll be making tha upsidedown forks for the Streetfighter over the next couple of days. I've polished the aluminium tubes. So now it's just measure, cut, assemble. What could be simpler. Laugh [(-D]

Did you see the clutch window on the engine? It was a very easy mod and adds a trick look.

Last thing I did to my project was to chromed the valves cap of the sides of the bike, here are two pictures of that.

i havent done any vac-forming myself, but oldhooker suggested using the windows from greeting card boxes as stock for vac forming. or rather pull-forming

I too have never seen a bike build in progress....that is truly awesome!!! I have been thinking about getting one of the Tamiya bikes myself....from your post, i can see the time for thinking is over!!! A bike is a must!!

I don't know if this will be off topic but here it goes..
Does anyone has done windshields.. or canopies for what it takes.... with clear PETE from Soda bottles??
I was just looking at a 2 liter bottle and they have plenty of flat clear plastic, once you cut them...
But, does it melt / soften enough for being pulled over a master and get the desired form??
Just an idea that came to my mind while in a meeting... Wink [;)]

Man, those tires look great. I thought about casting wheels and tires, but haven't ever done that before, and I'm not sure I'd want to bother.

Thanks for confirming that there's not much out there, though -- there's always more projects to work on.

I got same results when tried to find aftermarket parts.
Some friends told me to try to get the help of a japanese hobby company in getting replacement from Tamiya itself, all you need is your item part, some time and money.
Companies are Rainbow ten and HobbyLinkJapan.
Couldn't find out how much would be the cost for a couple of tires. Sad [:(]

Sooo I started making experiments in making the tires myself, but got problems in designing the proper mold, here are some pictures of my try-outs

I did a final mold that think will work but have not have the time neither the $$ to try it out..

Hi G,

I don't know of anywhere. After-market stuff for bikes is thin on the ground. Apart from a few PE kits for Tamiya 1/12 I haven't seen any. Try eBay, I often find some half finished stuff there which I get for pennies and just use them for spares. Or try scratch building some.

These are really cool projects, and I have a sort-of relayed question:

Does anybody know any sort of source for aftermarket motorcycle wheels and tires? They can be custom or replacement, made out of anything -- styrene, resin, whatever; no particular scale. I have some scratchbuilding ideas for some bikes, but don't want to buy a kit just for the wheels.

The tank and tail piece are from 1/9 Ninja. I filled the join between the two and smoothed the line for a sleeker look.
The scale is 1/9 - 1/8ish as I'm using donor parts from a 1/9 Ninja and a 1/8 Honda 750 turbo with a fair bit scratch building to get the look right.
If you have quick look at streetfighters.com or .co.uk you'll see the look I'm going for.

I think it would be terrific.
I just hope there are more members interested in that thread.
It would be great to share tips, like making space for a swingarm or enlarging/shortening forks, and some other ideas that come to mind.
BTW, can you share how did you made the tank-seat part?
What scale is your model?

More pics of my Streetfighter project Update

Hi All,

3more pics for you to see. Any input gladley received.

1- Tank and tailpiece from a Revell Ninja. Undercoated, then realised it's got to be modified to fit the frame (duh!).

2- The frame from a 750 turbo Honda. I'm taking off the rear sub-frame and building one for the Ninja bits.

3- A little mock up to give a little impression of where I'm going.

Any ideas on a NOS tank and fittings would be appreciated.
This is the engine with windowed clutch cover I built. I have step by step pics but I can't upload for some reason. If any body wants them I can email them to you.
