Would they be good kits for a first time motorcycle modeler?

Go Tamiya, in fact my wife started modeling only a few years ago, how ???
I had started an old 1/24 Katana from Tamyia but for some reason which I really can't remember I just didn't work on it anymore, while I was out working my wife picked up where I was stopped and finished the thing before I came home...
She been modeling eversince, and mostly motorcycles, always Tamyia.

I would tend to agree with eveyone else, but maybe a 1/9 Revell kit would suit. They can have fit problems though, I've found. Plus some of them are as cheap as chips.

Go with Tamiya, and to start go with something with a simple paint scheme such as their Kawasaki ZX-12. It is easy to assemble and painting isn't as complicated as the GP bikes. Less time consuming decals as well. Good luck with your choice.

I built this team honda in Movistar colours a couple of years ago and looks a bit tired now but at time was really impressed with models detail right down the actual metal screws used in construction.

I'll check with my LHS about the 1/12 kits by Tamiya, I know they carry Tamiya aircraft and armor subjects, but not much.

I'm still having to learn what is and is not easily available on Czech hobby shop shelves.

There is a Revell Germany 1/8 or 1/9 (can't remember) Ducati racing bike on the Tesco shelves, but it is rather expensive for me to feel comfortable with it as a first go.

I recently started my first motorcycle kit. I chose Tamiya's 1/12 scale Repsol Honda RC211V. It's an excellant kit in my opinion for a first timer. I'm about halfway done and the build has been pretty straight forward. Here are a few quick observations I've made. The first is the number of colors. That may sound funny but this kit calls out 19 different colors. There is a ton of detail painting involved in one of these kits. The other thing is the decals. There are decals all over the place. The tires have 16 decals alone. Don't even attempt to place a decal without Microsol. Although Tamiya does a great job breaking up the decals in to manageable sections, there are still many nasty compound curves that must be dealt with.

I think that the price of these kits is a pretty good bargain. They are some of the more reasonably priced offerings from Tamiya. Give one a try, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Kevan, I will totally agree with Joe. The 1/12 scale is much more satisfying and could be easier than those 1/24. Just try to buy an older model for start,from Tamiya line. I would recommend a Honda 750 or a katana. they look nice when finished and do not have any complicated process to build, very straigh forward.
I have build only one old GP bike so I can not tell you if the more modern ones are easy to build.
Any how, if you have any question/doubt/problem during the build process, do not hesitate to ask here .

I would recommend you to start with the 1/12 scale kits. They are easier to work with than the 1/24 ones. You have a lot more detail but the parts are much more easy to paint. If you find Tamiya to expensive (they aren't compared to what you get) perhaps some of the recent Heller-Airfix kits could work?
I would definately go for Tamiya.
