Motorcycle exhaust 'bluing'

I have heard of people airbrushing Tamiya's clear blue onto the chrome.

Also for around the blue. it turns like a copper kinda gold color. I muxed some gold and aluminum and it looks good. About 3 parts aluminum to 1 part gold, or 2 parts aluminum to 1 part gold. Somehwere around there. You may have to play around with it.

I First strip off the chrome plating, the paint does not stick to it as well. This also allows you to clean up any mold lines or glue joints. After thats done I spray the exhaust silver. Next I spray clear blue at very low psi with my AB to the areas I want to blue, usually up near the flanges and at bends. Then I spray a very small amount of clear red at the center of each blued area, this gives it a subtle hint of purple that fades into blue. Finally I spray a little bit of gold/silver, about 50/50 mix, on the edges of the blue. This has worked quite well for me.

I spray my exhausts with Alclad II chrome, then a thin coat of clear orange mixed with Tamiya smoke and sprayed in select areas.Then clear blue sprayed on in "hot spots".

Great ideas, I'll give it a try (got another project to finish first). I plan to strip the chrome off of about 85% of the parts to clean up seam lines and eliminate the problem of sprue attachment points. I've used the Alclad II Chrome; airbrushes like a dream and the finish is the closest to plating I've ever seen. Thanks guys.
